Cricket is Combat: Studies in Vicissitude

The singular sight of defeated mastermind, Andy Flower, capless and crestfallen, squeezing his way through the crowd on his way to the dressing room at the Kennington Oval after England finally and literally ran out of fortune for the first time in their home 2011 season.

Jubilant Darren Sammy, Captain of the West Indies, baring the teeth of the victorious underdog at the end of the second of their two match T20I series.

More bluntly: before the moments captured in these images, England could have been forgiven for thinking that they could walk on water while the West Indies were too punch-drunk to think anything at all.
