Compare the Drives No 8

Today Third Man has to drive to Bath and back and so has time only to post the above shot comparisons which bring together for the first time in one image Ingleby-Mackenzie’s repertoire of the slog sweep – believed by those who can just remember the thrill of watching him to have been his only shot. Something for the collector to savoir, surely.

TM spent yesterday at St Annes’ Cricket Club watching the second day of Lancashire Under 17s v Durham Under 17s.  By scoring maximum first innings batting and bowling points and leading on the first innings Lancashire topped the ECB North Region 2 Day County Championship League and will play Nottinghamshire Under 17s next week in a semi-final.

Everyone  must now await the result of the Cheshire Under 17s v Yorkshire Under 17s One Day 50 overs match to be played today in Congleton before knowing whether The Red Rose County will also be playing Nottinghamshire in the next round of the One Day Competition.

Yorkshire must win and seriously increase their net scoring rate to prevent Lancashire going through, but it is Yorkshire that we are speaking of and nothing must be taken for granted as Steve Oldham prepares his team for the challenge.

UPDATE Friday:   As Third Man drove through Cheshire yesterday morning at 10 a.m. it was raining cats and dogs.  The chances for the Cheshire v Yorks match looked bleak.  And so it was:  game off.  Lancs U17s will therefore meet Notts U17s on Aug 23rd.
